About fracgo

There is nothing to sign up for at FracGo. It is a fraction and decimal converter, it does one thing — converts fractions to decimals and decimals back to fractions, simplifying the result and showing the greatest-common-divisor steps — and it gives you the answer without first asking who you are.

Why we built this

The reason FracGo exists is simple: a tool that does one thing should not need an account, a cookie wall and three scrolls of marketing copy before it shows a number. So this one does one thing — converts fractions to decimals and decimals back to fractions, simplifying the result and showing the greatest-common-divisor steps — and shows it immediately.

How the result is produced

The whole calculation is client-side JavaScript. What happens is this: it expands a fraction to a division in one direction and, in the other, finds the repeating part of the decimal and reduces the resulting fraction by the greatest common divisor — which is why 0.375 comes back as exactly 3/8 rather than a rounded approximation. Because the method is published here, any disagreement you find can be traced to a particular step instead of being blamed on a black box.

Privacy by default

Privacy here is a property of the design, not a promise: the fraction or decimal you enter never leaves your browser, because the calculation runs there. There is no server to receive it, no store to hold it, and no third party with access to it.

Who this is for

Keeping it free

There is no charge to use FracGo. The costs are covered by advertising, which stays out of the way of the tool itself and has no access to your input. If an advert ever interferes with the page, tell us and we will look at it.

Get in touch

Tell us through the contact page if you find a bug or want something added. The fraction and decimal converter improves mainly on the strength of what users report.
